To improve efficiency in our warehouse operations, I have changed our Goods In process from a manual, paper-based system to a fully digital process using OrderWise and handheld scanners. This transformation has reduced processing time, eliminated human errors, and made stock updates faster and more accurate.
The Challenge
Previously, every stock delivery had to be checked, recorded on paper, and then manually entered into our system. This process was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors in data entry, leading to delays and inaccuracies in stock records.
Steps I Took to Digitalize the Goods In Process
1️⃣ Integrated OrderWise Mobile WMS with handheld barcode scanners to capture real-time stock data.
2️⃣ Trained the warehouse team on the new digital workflow, ensuring smooth adoption.
3️⃣ Enabled barcode scanning for stock receipt, allowing instant matching against purchase orders.
4️⃣ Automated the put-away process, providing system-generated storage location recommendations.
5️⃣ Ensured full data capture, including batch numbers, expiry dates, and quantities, eliminating manual input errors.
6️⃣ Synced all data directly with our ERP system, so stock updates happen instantly and accurately.
Key Takeaways & Results
📉 Reduced Goods In processing time by 40%, significantly improving warehouse efficiency.
✅ Eliminated nearly all human errors in stock recording and data entry.
📊 Provided real-time stock visibility, improving coordination between warehouse, sales, and purchasing teams.
🚀 Created a streamlined and automated workflow, allowing the warehouse team to focus on more critical tasks instead of paperwork.
This project is another step toward fully digitalizing warehouse operations and improving overall business efficiency. By eliminating outdated processes, we have increased accuracy, reduced delays, and made inventory management more reliable.
